Sarah & Ben | Kingston Maurward Wedding Photographer

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]What a wedding this was!! Sarah & Ben’s mid summer wedding and my first shoot as a Kingston Maurward Wedding Photographer. The day had all the ingredients to be a very special with a glorious venue in Dorchester and then back to a friends farm for a marquee reception, decorated by the loving hands of family and friends.

Well the day was certainly special as every wedding is, but the one dominating element in this wedding was the water and the abundance of it. On and off over the preceeding days there had been many heavy showers, but everyone remained optimistic that Saturday would ‘behave’.

But when Saturday arrived the heavens opened and remained so for the entire day. This wasn’t just rain – it was driving reain with monsoon like qualities. To stand out in in the normal wedding attire would result in being soaked to the skin within minutes – this was seriously bad!!!

Had Sarah & Ben not been such wonderful, British spirited people – the wedding day could have turned out to be a wash out literally with everyone dispersing home early to shelter from the elements. Instead they came prepared for all eventualities with the largest collection of wellie boots I have ever seen worn to a wedding ceremony, umbrellas, bin bags and such like. They came, the witnessed and they partied….. I mean they partied HARD!!!!

This has to be one if not the most memorable wedding I have covered to date. Adverse weather conditions coupled with a great, warm, party loving collection of people made it a wonderful experience and one that i know where the Bride and Groom wouldn’t of had it any other way. Who needs sun, sun sets and twee details when you can have a good old shin dig boot stomping, puddle splashing barn dance!

This experience was fun from start to finish and has led to the addition of essential wedding equipment – Wellies!!! Upon arriving and seeing the 6″puddle in the center of the marquee I was advised and directed to get a pair from the hardware shop in Wool, around 3 miles away. Little did I know that I would have to circumnavigate my way through four floods in my little car, thinking at each one that the game could all be over!! I think everyone was glad to board the Routemaster to take the trip up to Kingston Maurward – it certainly took the stress out of crossing the floods.

I’ve said it many times, this wedding was truely fabulous, but I hope that the extreme weather conditions remain a vivid fun memory, that I do not find being repeated at other weddings in the future.

It was a shame to miss out on using the wonderful grounds at kingston Maurward for bridal portraits as we could only do internal shots. But a date had been made to go back for a part 2… “Hooray”!! Once the bride’s dress returns from the dry cleaners and the sun comes out, we will once more venture back to make some beautiful portraits. Neither Bride or Groom or photographer are going to be robbed of photo opportunities thsi time!!![/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Wedding Photographer Dorset

  1. It was the most amazing wedding and it has been captured perfectly—why put down a floor when the mud and lake were such fun—4 changesof clothes later……
The field is trying to recover but “wet weddings R us!”

  2. Oh my word, what a day! You’ve done a fab job in capturing all the rainy, muddy joy 🙂 Were they not able to put a floor down in the marquee?

Loving the ‘blitz spirit’ shown by the guests!
