Unique placed as an affordable stunning venue, it is run by the local authority and permits weddings from simple ‘no thrills’ ceremonies, to an all day ceremony and banqueting.
The castle sits majestically on its cliff top location, looking out onto Christchurch bay and the Isle of Wight. Part of 14 acres of parkland, landscaped gardens and coastal walks.
A short distance from the entrance to the castle are footpaths taking you, along with your bridal party down to the golden beaches and lapping coastline.

Its ceremony room is bathed in light, with glass on three sides. Perfect locations for any ceremony summer or winter.
The gardens provide space for family and guests to mingle and explore. Open play space, to woodlands. A short five minute walk away the glorious coastline beckons.

A brief history
The architecture is Grade 1 listed and dates to the 1830’s. Much of the stonework is Norman and Renaissance, shipped from across the channel. It has intricate Gothic revival features and stained glass that make it appear old than it actually is.
The castle was the dream and realisation of Lord Stuart de Rothesay, a distinguished diplomat and the gardens were laid out by the infamous Capability Brown.
