Allison & Adam’s English Garden Wedding at Warmwell House
If you’re dreaming of a quintessentially English wedding with heartfelt family moments, sweeping countryside, and a marquee party that truly went off, then Allison & Adam’s day is one to soak up. As a seasoned Warmwell House wedding photographer, I’ve come to treasure every chance I get to return to this incredible venue—and this one raised the bar beautifully.
A Warm Dorset Welcome for a Transatlantic Celebration
Allison & Adam brought together two worlds—hers from the US, his from the UK—for a wedding celebration that blended laid-back English charm with a thread of elegance that ran right through the day.
Unlike some American weddings I’ve photographed (which tend to have more staged, formal photo moments), this one was gloriously free-flowing. The only choreography was that of connection—people coming together, embracing, and making memories. No posing required.
The Venue: A Historic Jacobean Gem in Hardy Country
Set just outside Dorchester, Warmwell House is a stunning Jacobean manor nestled in the heart of Dorset. It’s surrounded by formal hedged gardens, golden fields, and even has its own 13th-century church—The Church of the Holy Trinity—right at the entrance.
This meant no transport logistics for bridal parties; everyone simply wandered from house to chapel and back again, surrounded by wild grasses and that unmistakable Dorset light. As a Warmwell House wedding photographer, the opportunities to capture couples naturally within this landscape are endless.

Ceremony Highlights: Tears, Laughter, and Timeless Emotion
Some of the most moving moments from the day came before the ceremony had even begun. Allison’s mum was visibly holding back tears as she helped her daughter prepare—pausing often to take it all in. Moments like these are what we live for: emotion bubbling just beneath the surface, unscripted and beautiful.
The ceremony itself took place in the historic church just steps away. Adam’s grandfather delivered a speech that was equal parts sweet, sincere, and classically comedic—a loving tale of how the couple met and ‘courted’, as he understood it. A generational perspective like that? Priceless.
The Walk Back & Garden Jazz
After the ceremony, the entire wedding party made their way back to the house in one of the most picturesque processions I’ve witnessed. Think: sunlight, long gravel driveway, rolling countryside, and an effortlessly happy crowd.
Back at the manor, guests gathered in the gardens for drinks, light bites, and live jazz. The mood was elegant but informal—just the way it should be.
Marquee Revelry: Speeches & Seven Nation Army
The marquee was buzzing. The best men orchestrated the couple’s entrance with a live loop of The White Stripes’ “Seven Nation Army,” bringing the energy and excitement up to full volume.
Then came the speeches. What can I say? They were everything a photographer could wish for—roasts, tears, and roaring laughter all around. Capturing reactions felt like shooting fish in a barrel (though don’t quote me on that…).
Adam’s thank-you speech took a moving turn as he acknowledged his sister’s surprise attendance from Australia—with her 4-month-old baby. A real lump-in-the-throat moment.
Real moments. Natural emotions. Timeless storytelling.
Dance Floor Magic
The band? Unreal. Miss Baby Sol & The Faithettes absolutely brought the house down. They read the room, nailed the crowd, and had people dancing with wild abandon well into the night.
From a photography point of view, this was golden—movement, music, unfiltered emotion. The perfect end to a perfect day.
