Sonia & Len's Joy-Filled Somerset Celebration – A Marquee Wedding at North Cadbury with Tractors, Tradition & Tonnes of Heart

St Michaels North Cadbury Wedding Photography doesn’t get more vibrant, homegrown, or heartfelt than Sonia & Len’s unforgettable day in Somerset. A traditional church ceremony, a marquee field reception, and some of the most delightfully unexpected transport choices we’ve ever seen — this wedding had character in spades and love at every turn.

A Love Rooted in Place, Community and Personality

Sonia & Len’s wedding felt like a reflection of everything they are as a couple: grounded, joyful, a bit cheeky, and deeply connected to their community. With strong links to farming, family and friendship, they wanted their wedding to feel authentic and fun — a day that didn’t just look like them but truly felt like them. And wow, did they deliver.

The Perfect Backdrop: St Michaels Church & A Somerset Marquee Reception

Set in the heart of North Cadbury, St Michaels Church is one of the best-kept secrets in the world of Somerset wedding photography. With soft, airy natural light streaming in through arched windows and a relaxed, welcoming vibe from the church team, it’s a dream to work in — no matter the season.

Despite a dramatic forecast (including unseasonable high winds in July), spirits were high. The ceremony was short, sweet, and filled with laughter and meaningful glances. Even with the heavens opening, there was warmth everywhere.

From the church, guests and photographer regrouped just minutes away at a local field where the marquee awaited. This wasn’t a polished hotel reception — it was a homegrown, community-built setup full of personality. A proper Somerset marquee wedding with style and soul.

The Day in Motion: From Preps to Puddles

The day began at home with Sonia and her bridesmaids — the usual hive of activity buzzing around hair, makeup, flowers and a beautifully chaotic kitchen. I love being part of this pre-wedding rhythm — it sets the tone for everything that follows.

The moment Sonia left for the church was one I won’t forget. Most people arrive in a classic car. Sonia arrived in a gleaming new tractor, nodding to her and Len’s farming roots. Her bridesmaids laughed, villagers stopped to wave, and I made sure to get the shot as they rumbled up to St Michaels.

After the ceremony, the tractor theme continued — this time with an entire trailer rigged up with a bench, bubbles and bunting. Friends had pulled out all the stops. Sonia and Len’s send-off wasn’t just joyful — it was iconic.

Photography Highlights: Why This Day Stands Out

As a St Michaels North Cadbury wedding photographer, I’m always drawn to light, connection, and realness. And this wedding offered it all:

  • The warmth of the church’s interior light — natural, even under grey skies

  • The cheeky glances between the couple throughout the ceremony

  • The energy in the marquee as people shrugged off the weather and got fully stuck in

  • The stunning contrast of soft tones against dramatic skies during couple portraits

  • The tractors — obviously!

The best photos aren’t always the quietest or most styled — they’re the ones that pulse with presence. And Sonia & Len’s day was full of those.
