At Smiling Tiger Studios, we don’t arrive with a formula for how your wedding should look. We tune into the people, relationships and energy already there, allowing the photography and film to grow naturally from the day you’ve created.

Three words that were originally used by another wedding photographer to describe our work – and they stuck.
Because they describe what matters to us far better than any photography label ever could.
We look for emotion in all its forms. Tender, ridiculous, quiet, chaotic and occasionally completely absurd.
Often it’s the smallest gesture that says the most – a reassuring hand before walking down the aisle, a parent’s expression across the room, friends losing themselves during the speeches or the fleeting look between two people that nobody else noticed.
Those moments aren’t created by us.
They’re already there.
Our job is to see them.

Documentary wedding photography is sometimes called reportage or wedding photojournalism. Whatever name you give it, the principle is beautifully simple:
your wedding should be allowed to happen.
We work observationally, anticipating moments rather than manufacturing them and stepping in only when a little guidance genuinely helps.
That doesn’t mean you’ll have no portraits or family photographs.
You absolutely will.
We’ll simply create them efficiently and naturally, without turning your wedding into a succession of photoshoots.
The rest of the time, you’re free to be present with the people you’ve brought together.
THE SMILING TIGER EYE
Smiling Tiger Studios was founded by Linus Moran after 15 years working as a professional photojournalist for Fleet Street titles.
That world teaches you something difficult to learn from a textbook: how to anticipate.
To read people. To recognise when something is developing. To understand where to position yourself before the moment arrives – and to tell a much bigger story through individual frames.
That experience became the foundation of the Smiling Tiger approach.
Today, every photographer representing the studio is chosen for those same qualities: curiosity, emotional awareness, timing and an instinct for finding the story happening beyond the obvious.

We take enormous pride in our work, but your wedding doesn’t exist to create photographs for us.
That’s an important distinction.
Beautiful photographs come from understanding what’s important to you and then giving those moments space to happen.
Your personalities shape the work. Your families bring the characters. Your venue creates the backdrop. And your guests provide a good deal of the unpredictability.
We bring the experience to recognise when all those things collide.

And as Smiling Tiger Studios grows, our team gives couples greater access to the same documentary philosophy and creative standard across more dates and locations.
PRE-WEDDING SHOOTS
For anyone who feels uncomfortable in front of a camera, a pre-wedding shoot can be surprisingly useful.
It’s not about practising poses.
It’s simply an opportunity to spend some time together, get comfortable with the way we work and discover that being photographed doesn’t have to feel awkward.
Keep it simple. A favourite walk, the coast, a coffee, somewhere meaningful – somewhere you can concentrate on each other rather than the camera.
By the wedding, that relationship already feels familiar.

Based near Blandford and Bournemouth, I’m a Dorset wedding photographer and videographer, offering my services throughout the UK and occasionally abroad to ensure your wedding day is beautifully captured, wherever it may be.
To secure my services, simply complete my online contract and pay a £500 booking fee. Once that’s done, your date is confirmed, and I’m all set to capture your special day!
I’m a member of the Wedding Photojournalist Association (WPJA), an international organisation for professional photographers skilled in candid, unobtrusive wedding photography, joining some of the most respected, award-winning photojournalists worldwide.
I provide professional Dorset wedding photography, dedicating full attention to each wedding. I personally oversee every step, from shooting and editing to colour correction, retouching, and album design. Every album is meticulously quality checked before being presented to the client, ensuring a truly personalised and exceptional result.
Large enough for poster prints, if desired. All images are high-quality and delivered in full resolution.
Absolutely! You’re fully licensed to print as many copies as you like for your personal use. Friends and family can also order prints directly from your gallery.
Certainly, I’m covered with up to £10m for public liability and professional indemnity, including photography and drone operations.
I typically share a selection of 12-20 preview photos within a couple of days, with the full set ready within two weeks. During busy periods, this may take up to a month. Film previews are delivered within three weeks, and the full highlight video is available within six weeks.
