If you’re searching for timeless, emotive Avington Park wedding photography, let this stunning celebration of Rhian & James inspire you.
Captured within the romantic setting of Avington Park’s grand grounds, this day overflowed with real emotion, heartfelt words, and beautifully unscripted moments—exactly the kind of wedding storytelling we live for.
Rhian & James: A Wedding Rooted in Joy & Authenticity
From the very beginning, Rhian & James made it clear—they wanted a day that was elegant yet heartfelt, full of laughter, connection, and meaning. This wasn’t just a wedding; it was a warm, emotional gathering of two tight-knit families and one utterly connected couple.
We first met Rhian on the wedding morning at her parents’ beautiful home, a short distance from St Matthew’s Church in Otterbourne. Spacious and full of light, it was the perfect place to capture the calm and joyful prep alongside her bridesmaids and family. Meanwhile, I was working alongside videographer Ryan, giving us the perfect opportunity to capture the day across stills, video and drone coverage.
A Traditional Church Ceremony With Unmistakable Energy
Rhian & James’ traditional church wedding was full of character from the start. From the very first glance they shared at the altar, it was clear they were totally in sync. That moment—caught just as they locked eyes and smiled—was magic. It’s an image that will undoubtedly remain in our portfolio for years to come.
As the ceremony progressed, James gave Rhian a cheeky wink before their vows, perfectly summing up the relaxed and affectionate vibe between them. And as they walked back down the aisle, James threw a joyful fist in the air—those little, unscripted moments are what make each wedding story so personal.
The floral arch that adorned the church entrance was as breathtaking as the confetti tunnel that followed. A full cascade of colour and joy, set to the soundtrack of a church full of singing—no surprise with Rhian’s Welsh roots!
Avington Park Wedding Reception: Elegance & Emotion
While guests travelled by coach to Avington Park, we took a short detour with the couple to grab some portraits in the surrounding countryside. The light was strong, but the moment served its purpose—allowing Rhian & James a breather and giving us some stunning, clean frames with the venue in the background.
Arriving at the venue, guests were gathered beneath mature trees, sipping champagne to the gentle sounds of acoustic guitar. Avington’s charm is in its details—the iron bridge over the trout stream, the majestic Georgian façade, and the sweeping grounds that provide endless photographic possibilities.

Emotionally Charged Speeches & Touching Tributes
Inside the elegant marquee, the day took on new levels of intimacy. Speeches were shared between courses, starting with Rhian’s father—his voice breaking with emotion, hands being gently held by Rhian and her mum. It’s in moments like these where still imagery becomes deeply personal legacy.
James’ speech was equally unforgettable. Known for his dry wit, he described himself as “emotionally stunted” but admitted the sight of their loved ones together nearly brought a tear to his eye. “Sort of!”
Rhian’s reflections on marriage were touching: “I don’t marry you because I have to. I marry you because you’re the light of my life. I couldn’t be without you.” Pure gold.
