A lot can happen to anyone within a year, whether it be a change in circumstances, job or family or a change in attitude or opinion. As a Dorset Wedding Photographer, I am no different. But here is the place to talk and inform about my work, what I have been up to and where I am heading with it.
I am a photographer that also see’s myself as an artist, and as such I make a conscienscious effort to step to one side to look back at my work objectively with the view of seeing if I can improve on its feel and presentation. This is where I have been over the last week to ten days, going back over last seasons work and giving it a new twist, experimenting with new reproduction / post production processes and producing some images that are a lot stronger second time around.
Its kind of weird to explain but when embarking on this re-work, I had no idea where I was heading. I only had some lose bullet point objectives – to get my own black & white action(process), to change & break away from my existing colour process and to give the pages throughout my site a clearer continuous identity.
Lots of experimenting trying different techniques and combining them into different layers paid off, I think I finally made it! I have the new look for the images with a strong black & white more organic and having film grain effect, a desaturated colour feel and a new repertoire of tools to use in speeding up my workflow. Each page of the website has been re-worked with an individual layout with fresh images and for now I am happy & content. This tightening up of my production workflow will be so beneficial in allowing me to spend less time in front of the computer and more time behind the camera being creative – something that all my clients will see the benfit of.
For the coming 2012 season I am focussed & refreshed with new work that I am very proud of. My work is stronger and evolving and I am looking forward to continuing this journey.
Here are a few of my favourite images recently re-worked.
