Emily & Tim’s wedding back in October was my first true wedding of the off season. Chilly – It certainly was! Held out on Portland there was a strong breeze coming in from the sea. Today was going to be one of those days that group shots or portraits were going to be done pretty sharpish.
Thankfully the reception venue came up trumps with a great spiral staircase, perfect for the large group shot, keeping everyone warm and away from the cutting wind! The last thing you want at a wedding is disgruntled guests getting chilled while various shots are composed.
Great light was on our side and something I see in abundance in this part of the country. Crisp light coupled with a deep blue sky being a perfect combination for great photography. Wedding images can often be mistaken for being taken in another part of the world, (especially with all the cornish palm trees within the backgrounds). Its a good thing that a photograph doesn’t disclose the temperature!
My first wedding out on the Island of Portland, the ceremony was held at the historical Avalanche Memorial Church and followed by a reception at The Venue.
It was a great day spent in the company of a fun couple and their warm, inviting family & friends. Another first for me was to see, Emily’s Dad, not familiar with public speaking but laid back enough to write his speech just prior to the wedding. Just glad he didn’t suffer from writers block as I often do!
Some wonderful memories captured and a privilege to have been their choice of Wedding Photographer Dorset. Congratulations Emily & Tim, I hope you have a wonderful, long & happy marriage in front of you!
