Huntsham Court Wedding Photographer - Laura & Andy’s Forest-Themed Day with Ryan Keen Live

Huntsham Court is one of those Devon venues that instantly raises the bar. Exclusive-use, a grand country house with a relaxed ethos, and enough on-site bedrooms that the whole wedding can feel like a proper weekend gathering rather than a one-day dash.

Laura & Andy’s wedding was our first time photographing a wedding here – and it landed as one of those days where everything clicked. Beautiful weather, a clear creative vision, and a soundtrack so personal it felt like part of the story, not just background noise.

A little venue context - why Huntsham Court works so well

Huntsham Court is designed for momentum. The Great Hall sits at the heart of the house with reception rooms flowing off it, and the estate gives you space to move between moments without losing the energy.
It’s also built for the kind of wedding where friends and family travel in and settle in – with the venue highlighting accommodation for up to 100 guests across 42 bedrooms.

That’s exactly the vibe Laura & Andy created: immersive, personal, and full of detail.

The vision - forest theme, thoughtful details, and people who cared about photography

From the first conversations it was obvious these two had a strong idea of what they wanted. A forest theme threaded through the styling and the small details, and because they both genuinely appreciated good photography (Andy especially, as a professional animator and video maker), the day felt visually considered without ever feeling staged.

I was joined by fellow photographer Jim Johnson second shooting, which meant we could cover the day with proper depth – different angles, different reactions, and the sort of in-between moments that often become the favourites.

The music - when your mate is the artist

Some weddings have a playlist. This wedding had a soundtrack.

Andy had produced the official music video for his friend Ryan Keen’s debut single Focus, and that project went on to win a Best Music Video award at the Limelight Short Film Awards in 2012 – not bad for a first solo venture.

So of course Ryan was part of the day.

He serenaded Laura down the aisle with Grow Old With You (yes, the Adam Sandler one), then later performed their first dance song live – Together Forever by Jack Johnson – and even played original compositions to open the evening entertainment. The result was a wedding that felt like it had its own score, written specifically for them.

Ceremony in the house, blessing on the estate, and a day that breathed

The ceremony took place in the main house, followed later by a blessing in the estate chapel. In between, the grounds did what they do best: guests relaxing, drifting, celebrating. Croquet on the lawns. Drinks in the sun. A day with room to breathe, while still feeling packed with moments.

The speeches - the moment that got Andy

If you’ve worked with us, you’ll know we treat speeches like gold. Not because they’re formal, but because they crack people open.

Laura’s dad delivered the kind of scene-setting tribute that lands beautifully. But the moment that stayed with us was Andy’s dad speaking.

There’s something about father-to-son tributes that can hit harder than anyone expects. You could see Andy developing that lump-in-the-throat look, head lowering slightly, trying to hold it together while pride and emotion came up fast.

I shot a sequence from over his father’s shoulder – capturing exactly what his dad was seeing. That moment of connection. Raw, honest, and quietly powerful. The kind of frame that becomes a family heirloom.

The night - live music, big energy, and Huntsham doing what it does best

As evening arrived, the celebration tipped into full party mode. Live music has a way of pulling people into the moment, and with Ryan on the mic it felt like everyone leaned in harder. We left knowing the house would keep humming well into the early hours – exactly how a Huntsham Court wedding should end.

Laura & Andy – thank you for trusting us. A spectacular day, beautifully made.
