Huntsham Court Tiverton Weddings - Gareth & Amelia’s Australian Homecoming Celebration

Huntsham Court Tiverton weddings have a very particular magic – exclusive-use country house energy, big-sky Devon surroundings, and that rare feeling that everyone is living under one roof for the weekend. It’s private, grand, and built for celebrations that feel like a proper gathering, not a one-day event.

And Gareth & Amelia’s wedding? A brilliant example of exactly that.

A little venue context

Huntsham Court sits in the rolling Devon countryside near Tiverton, with the kind of scale that makes destination-style weekends easy. It’s an exclusive-use estate with on-site accommodation (the venue states up to 100 guests across 42 bedrooms) and multiple reception rooms, which means you can host, celebrate, and keep everyone together without splitting the energy.

It’s also a house with a romantic origin story – Huntsham was famously “built for a bride”.

Gareth & Amelia - doctors in Australia, coming home to celebrate properly

Gareth and Amelia were both living and working as doctors in Australia, and coming back to the UK for their wedding mattered. Not just for tradition, but for the people. Friends flying in from around the world. Family all under one roof. A celebration that felt like a reunion as much as a wedding.

That’s why Huntsham Court made so much sense. It ticked the aesthetic box – stunning old-house character and a real sense of occasion – and it nailed the practical side too: space, accommodation, and serious party potential.

The dress - a little piece of Australia brought to Devon

Amelia’s dress deserves its own moment.

She brought a piece of Australia into the day with opal gemstones – bold, luminous, and completely unlike anything we’d seen before. Not fussy. Just striking, personal, and quietly powerful.

A slow build into the Great Hall ceremony

One of the things we love about Huntsham Court Tiverton weddings is how naturally the day can build.

It started with friends chilling in and around the grounds, the house gradually filling with noise and laughter, momentum rising as everyone moved towards the ceremony.

Then came the Great Hall – the venue’s standout indoor space, made for that moment when everything goes quiet and all eyes turn to the front.

Heartfelt ceremony done, it was straight into sunshine, champagne, and the kind of atmosphere where everyone relaxes fast because they know they’re staying put. No taxis. No curfews. No splitting the crowd.

Champagne in the grounds, then speeches with bite

Drinks reception outside, wedding breakfast inside, then speeches that were lively to say the least.

There were plenty of stories from their student medical days – the kind of tales that make everyone laugh because half the room was there for it, and the other half can’t believe anyone survived it.

This is the stuff we’re always listening for as documentary photographers – the real history, the private jokes, the friendships being honoured out loud.

The night - a band that tore it up

By the time the evening party hit, Huntsham Court was doing what it does best: turning into a full-scale house party, only with better architecture.

The band tore up the place. We bowed out knowing full well the celebrations would run deep into the early hours, exactly as a wedding weekend should.

Gareth & Amelia – what a day. Thanks for trusting us with it, and congratulations again.
