[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]My lastest Photofilm, Laura & Andy’s Huntsham Court Wedding Video has been one of the most challenging edits I have done in a long time. Yet, it has to be said, it has also been one of the most rewarding!
laura & Andy’s wedding, was something I had been looking forward to for some time. Their wedding was ‘something different’ to many others I have had the pleasure of capturing.
I was aware of the effort they had put into their day, from the personal touches of its woodland theme being reflected in their handmade wedding invites, the choice of venue – a beautiful gothic mansion, through to the musical soundtrack to the day.
Music is something very important in my life and so too in theirs, and their day!
In the proceeding months upon booking my services, I learnt that they were hoping to have a friend – Ryan Keen, playing something for them on the night. At this point I was none the wiser as to who he was or what he was like.
Andy who’s profession is as a stop motion animator, had made his friends debut music video ‘Focus’. It went on to win the ‘limelight short film awards 2012’ – not bad at all for a new venture and a friends debut single!
Last summer during the Olympic celebrations in Weymouth, I got the chance to catch Ryan play, twice in Weymouth. The first appearance it was pretty much a case of myself, family & friends. A month later ( after Ryan had done quite a few appearances on the summer festival circuit), it was quite different. The venue was pretty much packed out!
Ryan has his debut album being released in around three weeks time and I’m sure its going to be big! Friend and collaborator with the likes of Newton Faulkener, Ed Sheeran and Ben Howard, but in his own right, he stands apart as a singer/songwriter. Part of a new wave of British musicians carving a distinctive path through the world music stage. Ryan is a man awaiting critical acclaim, that should come calling later this month with the realease of ‘Room for light’.
The soundtrack to this photofilm blends their parents moving tributes to the couple, with their vows and has Ryan’s music as the accompanying soundtrack. Instumentals of ‘Focus’ and ‘Old scars’ along with an exclusive rendition of ‘Grow Old With You’ by Adam Sandler.
There was so much material that simply couldn’t make the ‘edit’ due to running time constraints. But I think I achieved a good balance in capturing and representing their day maintaining the role of being the observer, documenting the wedding ‘as it happened’.
Photofilms and especially this Huntsham Court Wedding Video, create such an alternative way of capturing a wedding day and keeping memories alive. Audio has such an important role in telling a story, and what better way is there to do it than in ‘your’ own words!
