As a break away from my usual documentary style featured predominantly in this Image of the week section, I thought I would put forward this lovely shot from a recent wedding I covered as a wedding photographer in Bridport.
A group shot of Laura and her bridesmaids, it was taken at the ‘best’ time of the day, being late afternoon. The light is softer and warmer, so great for portraiture.
Although totally put together with each girl being directed – it was shot in a similar style to how I shoot most of my documentary wedding photography. I’m talking about wide open aperture, clearly emphasising the Bride and throwing out of focus the bridesmaids. I think it adds to the strength and turns a nice shot into something quite different.
I’m just embarking on the complete wedding edit from Laura & Pete’s big day and think there will be many more cracking images to grace this blog. I’m looking forward to sharing them as well as many others from wedding photographer Bridport.

Lovely tones in this shot – the sky is such a great backdrop and the tones in the field work so well with the bridesmaid’s dresses!
