Fairtrade and fairmined ecological gold Wedding & engagement rings

Last week saw my brothers company ” Good as Gold‘ hold a special event with local representatives from the Fairtrade Foundation. Barbara Crowther was visiting Weymouth as part of the Fairtrade fortnight and awarded Weymouth and Portland’s fairtrade status certificate for the next two years to the local mayor.

The certificate is now proudly displayed within the shop and proves “Good as Golds’ desire to make all of their new jewellery using gold that really makes a difference both to the environment and the miners that mine it. Having already been working along ethical lines recycling old gold and gemstones into new items Fairtrade jewellery is something very close to their heart.

Fairtrade and Fairmined gold is exclusively available from artisanal and small scale mining organisations across Latin America. Globally there are 100 million people who depend directly or indirectly on this type of mining. They are characterised by high levels of poverty, trapped in unfair supply chains and struggling to get a fair price for the gold they mine.

As Dorset’s first fairtrade fairmined manufacturing jewellery company and they are looking forward to producing designs for customers that they can be assured have started life with nothing but good intentions . They will be promoting the use of fairtrade& fairmined ecological gold when ever that special occasion presents itself and will be building their stocks of fairtrade fairmined jewellery.

Good as Gold has joined the ranks of a small but growing group of conscientious ethical jewellery suppliers , and manufacturing jewellers who are trying to make a difference. So if you are looking for something unique and special, do pop down and see them to discuss your requirements. No matter what the job, they can certainly give impartial advice and offer all services to the general public at trade prices.

I wish “Good as Gold’ all the best with their new venture and hope that more people decide to question the ethics behind their luxury jewellery.
