Laura & Andy’s engagement shoot took us Stoke Woods, near Exeter on a beautiful Autumnal day a few weeks ago. The woodland location was chosen to tie in with their wedding theme and was on route to include a venue visit to Huntsham Court, the grand location for their June wedding next year.
Although Laura had well instructed and supplied me with all necessary postcodes, maps and written directions – I still managed to miss the entrance to Stoke Woods. I had to call at a nearby Paint Balling centre and ask to be pointed in the right direction to commence Engagement Photography Devon.
Rather it being my poor eye sight or bad interpretation of directions, I prefer to blame it all on the gaggle of lycra clad middle aged men mincing around the car park entrance and obscuring my view ( I believe a fair few of them had bought along bicycles and were participating in some sort of hill climb race!) But I think the activity was mostly a smokescreen for those with a fondness for skin tight textiles ! 🙂 What some people choose to do on a Sunday morning never ceases to amaze….
Without venturing too deep into the ancient woodland we found some lovely settings bathed in natural spot lights, created some relaxed portraits and chatted on how their wedding preparations were progressing.
With time being of the essence as we had an appointment to make, we continued our little jaunt through the Devon countryside towards Huntsham Court.
What a great venue it is, we were given a tour around the house and shown all the renovation / updating work that has been made over the last year under its new ownership. Not only was it a chance for us to become more familiar with the venue, it was a perfect opportunity to envisage the various photo opportunities presented from working in such an environment.
It was really great to spend some time together and be updated on how the plans were all coming together. With the engagement shoot and the venue visit now done, the excitement is now building and I am really looking forward to the big day capturing all the great moments of a great couple, at a wonderful venue with some great family & friends.
