Little Bredy | Wedding Venue Dorset

Bridport Wedding Photographer

A Church has stood on this site since the 13c, but today’s visitor mostly sees the reconstruction of about 1850 in which the church was embellished with one of Dorset’s few steeples.

The church of St. Michael and All Angels has some beautiful kept grounds containing a trout lake, waterfall and stream providing a glorious location for wedding photos or a quiet family picnic. You can see more of the grounds from this E-shoot I did a few weeks ago with Holly & Lee.

Little Bredy is a small, beautiful village seven miles West of Dorchester. It lies in the shadow of an ancient earthwork thought to be an Iron Age fort, near the source of the River Bride, just below the Valley of Stones. Here country stillness is accompanied by a soundtrack of cheerful birdsong, wind teasing plentiful foliage and water cascading veil-like over the dam before rushing down into the valley below. ‘Bredy’ and ‘Bride’ are derived from the Celtic word for ‘surging stream’ and ‘Little’ is by way of comparison with ‘Long’, since nearby Long Bredy is a larger parish.
