Tess & Richard’s Weymouth Wedding | Documentary Wedding Photographer Dorset

Tess & Richard’s wedding was a special day full of unusual details. They were unusual for me anyway –  to witness and capture as a Documentary wedding photographer Dorset. The attention and effort behind the details made it unique and really gave a couple a day that they and their guests will remember for years to come.

So what details I hear you ask?  Lets start with the theme – many couples chose a colour theme for all sorts of reasons, a favourite colour, a recent wedding they saw in a magazine or a  fashion trend.  Well not this couple, their theme came from none other than the well known Blue footed Booby, I’m sure you know the one…….. 🙂

The Blue Footed Booby is a bird native to the Galapagos Island, near Equador ( for any budding sailors out there its turn left after Colombia).  They have turquoise to a deep aquamarine colour feet.  (Sorry if this is superfluous information!)  Their mutual love for sailing and travelling had brought the couple together in the first place.  So its no wonder that their round the world trip and visit to the Galapagos Islands was the one to give them the inspiration for their special day.

Their dog Benjy was the ring bearer, who’s entrance to the church was kept top secret from the unsuspecting guests.  A detail that I had been privileged to and had let out of the bag in a previous blog post, hence its existence was not shared amongst family & friends.  Lesson learnt – I’ll keep schtum in future – promise!!

Their passion for sailing was also included into the day when the couple moved on from St Andrew’s Church to the reception at Castle Cove Sailing Club.  Being members of the club they had opted to utilise the facilities to the full and arrive by sea, leaving Weymouth marina in a friends boat and arriving at the moorings outside the clubhouse.

Being a beautiful sunny day the experience was a lovely detail with close family members waiving them off from the marina and then the whole wedding party coming out onto the club jetty to greet them.  Many of whom held out sail booms forming an arch for the couple to walk through.  A quick re-inactment photo from Titanic with Tess and the page boys / bridesmaids precariously leaning off the bow of the boat having been quickly captured!

The clubhouse had recently  upgraded its facilities (its own legacy provided from the funds earned through 2012 Olympic sailing teams) with a huge decking area  fully utilising the wonderful sea views.  The interior had been dressed in the wonderful aquamarine colour scheme (thanks to Blue footed boobies), both table tea light holders and wish tree having been hand made by the couple from gathered driftwood it really did have that ‘personal’ touch and fresh sea feel.

To one side stood the cake, topped with none other than the theme setters themselves – a pair of Blue Footed Boobies.

I tried to edit down the amount of images in this post, believe it or not.  But the flow of the story and the strength of the images had other plans – the way it stands really does the day justice encapsulating ‘their’ day perfectly.  A wonderful tale from start to finish with some golden moments captured.  From innocent page boys sneaking a peak into the changing brides room to the grooms father catching 40 winks during the wedding breakfast speeches (thanks Richard) – it was a pleasure & privilege to have been your choice of Documentary Wedding Photographer Dorset.

I hope you enjoy viewing their day as much as I did in capturing it.
