Wedding Photography in Bridport with Laura & Pete’s country wedding made quite an impression on me and as I walked away from the marquee that evening it had me thinking. ‘This was a real community celebration, and possibly something akin to how it used to be in the good old days!’
To elaborate, Pete’s a farmer and very much connected within the local village community of Powerstock. He spent the night before his wedding staying with the vicar and her family. She conducted the ceremony the following day and was the mum to one of Pete’s ushers!
I was told that it was something of a local tradition that the vicar cooks breakfast for the Groom. I was told it was to ensure sure the groom is well prepared for the day, but you never know, it maybe just to ensure he’s away from mischief and infront of the alter early! 😉
I joined Pete and his ushers outside their local pub, the Three Horseshoes. The wedding party were enjoying a few drinks and soaking up the sun outside.
I spotted a lone character briskly walking past en route to the church, he attracted a short burst of joking around from the awaiting ushers. It was another farmer, land owner and shortly to be in his other guise as one of the church bell ringers!
Powerstock Church is a beautiful old church, set amongst idyllic Dorset countryside. It is a delightful place to be married and a pleasure to be invited to document with wedding photography in Bridport.
A wedding day punctuated with string quartets, beautiful scenery, great weather, spectacular cheese platter, marquee, colour scheme and dont forget the memorable ‘Dance off’.
A suitable closing with the wedding day’s last duty. Laura & Pete, along with bridesmaids and ushers had been secretly practicing a routine to impress. Midway through the Bride & Groom’s first dance they broke apart and a dance off broke forth!
