Victoria & Adam’s wedding day was ‘the day’ when the heavens opened.  Showers were forecast and I remember checking the weather app – bang on 3pm!  And so it was….

Just as Victoria appeared at the church gates, the storm whipped up to full speed.  My role later in the day as their Marquee Wedding Photographer Somerset was going to prove interesting!

There seemed to be a distinct reticence towards any ceremony photography when we arrived.  I had Oana, with me for the day second shooting, following Adam’s preparations.

When we pointed out that the forecast gave no sign of there being a let up in the down pour and that pictures would be significantly reduced, along with missing that vital element, on why everyone was gathered – we were cut some slack!  Thank god![vc_row][vc_column][ultimate_spacer height=”25″][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text][/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][ultimate_spacer height=”25″][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]With both Victoria’s Uncle and God Father over seeing the nuptials, it was very much a family service.

Upon leaving the church, the confetti shot was cancelled (understandably) and mad dashes were made to various vehicle.  Inside out umbrellas and side winds playing their role.

Back to the marquee, and everyone huddled close away from the elements.  The vision of canape´s & drinks being served upon the beautiful lawn surrounding the family’s lake, wasn’t going to happen.

The gathering was kept intimate and warm, mingling close.  It probably added to the day with everyone connecting more than normal.

Come early evening we did get a lapse in the relentless down pour.  20 minutes or so for ‘the group’ shot and a number of bridal portraits – our prayers had been heard, it made all the difference.

No one, least of all me, likes to be robbed of photo opportunities. However our green and pleasant land does have a weather system with it’s own plan in store!

That said, upon reflection bad weather / good weather – we work with both.  We bend, we flow and we embrace what we have to work with.  Every day has it’s merit’s and all wedding produce unique imagery.
